Job Description

The Transportation Business Analyst is responsible for supporting the sourcing and management of all carriers to align the company’s transportation/logistics services, to improve the company’s bottom line results and deliver an exceptional customer experience by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Will address various modes of common carrier service including parcel, less than truckload (LTL), full truckload, intermodal, air freight, and ocean. 
  • Will utilize metrics to drive consistent performance as well as address the escalation, root cause analysis and resolution of individual shipment issues. Based on findings and improvements needed, incumbent will provide guidance/forecasting for process changes with the Transportation Management System (TMS).
  • Compile and analyze historical shipping and/or vendor spend data to monitor trends and help develop bid packages.
  • Continual assessment of spend and proactive development of actions to identify cost reductions, improve carrier performance and business compliance with / use of preferred carriers.
  • Be a trusted adviser to the internal business partners for transportation / logistics and assist in developing quarterly/annual budgets.
  • Preparing presentations of summary data to the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Additional duties as required.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred. Business, Finance, or Logistics degrees a plus.
  • 2+ years of Transportation and/or Financial analysis experience required; 5+ years preferred.
  • Experience working with OTM (Oracle) and AS400 is a plus.
  • Strong financial background; proven analytical, financial and problem solving skills.
  • Must be capable of working cross functionally with finance, supply chain, transportation, operations and sales; ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines and adjust priorities on demand.
  • Strong computer skills including advanced knowledge of Excel, MS Word, and MS Access. This includes extensive knowledge of Excel with pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.
  • SQL experience a plus; raw data knowledge.
