Job Description

As the Sr. Specialist you are responsible for driving quality improvement initiatives across corporate and a network of facilities. In this role you will provide overall quality support for site teams to improve overall operational quality, reduce defects and quality issues, and make recommendations to improve the production process based on findings from quality analysis and metrics. Collaboration across multiple disciplines is critical for the successful implementation of the corrective actions. This role will interface closely with other cross-functional groups such as our Manufacturing, Engineering, Technical Services and Quality.

You will also be responsible for supporting Quality excellence initiatives across various business processes for the benefit of our customers, business, and our colleagues.  Work as a coach, mentor and facilitator for Quality improvement projects as well as maintain performance metrics to measure program success and drive continual improvement.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Create and distribute weekly, monthly quality reports to all site, monitor trends and partner with the site teams to develop gap plans.
  • Assess Quality KPIs across the business unit to identify systemic product and process related issues.  Assess and report data to the management team to determine action plan and drive performance throughout the network sites.
  • Define and manage a robust control system to ensure that all relevant Quality and Continuous Improvement processes are performing according to plan. This includes analysis of any gaps vs. plan in process Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and business metrics for both functional and operational processes.     
  • Lead and work with network site Operations and Quality leadership to develop plans for continual improvement of product and process quality. Partner with the site teams to develop gap plans and monitor timely closure of the gap plans as needed.
  • Identify areas of systemic weakness and lead initiatives to implement corrective action. Promotes use of statistical analysis for determination of improvements, and provides analyses to support risk mitigation. Develop and analyze statistical data and specifications to establish product and process capabilities (Cp/Cpk).
  • Participate in quality system(s) rollout by ensuring that elements of the assigned quality system(s) is/ are implemented and maintained at the site according to Nestle Global standards, Corporate Quality Compliance, Regulatory, and site requirements for Deviation, CAPA, and other Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Direct support of Mgr., Quality Excellence for project activities as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with a Pharmaceutical, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or other science related field major
  • 5+ years of experience within the food, pharmaceutical and/or supplement industry
  • Project Management certification preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma accreditation or certification preferred
  • Statistical Process Control a plus
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to influence leaders and lead complex projects
  • Facilitation and presentation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management skills, demonstrated ability to execute projects in fast paced and dynamic environments
  • Skilled in critical thinking with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong Lean-driven Operational/Quality Excellence knowledge with proven practical experience in the use and application of lean principles and tools, problem solving and statistical skills using quality tools such as pareto analysis, statistical process control, etc. preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of 21 CFR Part 111, 117, ISO 17025, HACCP, Food Defense, etc. in the dietary supplement industry preferred
