Job Description

The Senior Manager of Category & Promotion Analytics performs a valuable role in building and developing key insights and recommendations through strong promotional analytics to inform promotional and trade strategy for Nestle Health Science brands.

This position is responsible for leading a team in the development and evaluation of promotional effectiveness and evaluation, identifying key insights and recommendations that will inform promo/trade strategy for the organization for all categories.  This role will translate analytical insights into action to help drive strategic and tactical executions and achieve sales and trade productivity goals across customers.

This role can be based in NY or NJ and hybrid remote,

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the team in gaining an understanding of key customer trade promotional programs, their effectiveness through strong financial acumen and drive recommendations aligned with trade strategy to impact profitable growth. 
  • Lead and be responsible for customer quarterly investment reviews for top 15 customers which includes the oversight of the full agenda, customer pre-work, coordination with cross functional partners – Customer Strategy, Sales Operations, Sales Finance and Sales Teams as well as the Promo Analytics Team.
  • Develop and lead promotion analytics and evaluation for categories/brands across top accounts on an on-going basis and provide a macro organizational view including a review of competitive promotional activity at key accounts.
  • Develop trade productivity value through insights and recommendations using key analytical data sets including IRI, customer POS, Numerator, etc.
  • Identify promotional best practices and insights that lead to recommendations to drive productivity in trade spend.
  • Identify key trends through data analytics across different categories/retailers in order assist the customer strategy/brand teams with developing strategic trade and promotional strategies and executions.
  • Develop reporting capabilities leveraging multiple sources of data including syndicated data, internal costs, and trade promotion system.
  • Develop critical promotional insights through scenario planning as needed by customer and brand to influence future revenue growth.
  • Drive trade value for the organization, in partnering with Customer Strategy, Sales Finance and Sales Teams.
  • Establish, with sales leadership, KPIs for evaluation to drive promotional productivity.
  • Responsible for identifying and compiling data, identifying and quantifying opportunities and recommending improvements.
  • Work cross functionally across a matrix of functions including Finance, Customer Strategy, Sales, Brand, Category, Shopper, Brand Analytics, etc.
  • Inform promotional trends and analytics for monthly consumption review as needed with Sales Leadership.
  • Be seen as a strategic thought leader for the organization in understanding promotional analytics behind category trade dollars.
  • Lead the organization in exploration and evaluation of new promotional analytical tools and techniques.
  • Manage two direct reports.

Job Requirements

  • 7+ years of Consumer Packaged Goods, preferably FMCG, industry experience, primarily Analytics or Sales Finance focused
  • 4+ years of Syndicated data experience -  IRI or Nielsen
  • 1+ years of experience with Market Track/Numerator
  • 4+ years of TPM (trade promotion management) experience
  • Experience working with trade spend, budgets and ROI required
  • Experience leading a team
  • Prior experience working directly with account teams or Customer/Sales Strategy and Brand
  • Strong track record in analytic or commercial sales/finance roles, commercial acumen is key
  • Bachelor's degree required
