Job Description

As the Maintenance Manager, you are responsible for the overall management of the Maintenance function to produce high-quality nutritional supplements with maximum operating effectiveness and safety. This role is a critical member of the Plant leadership team and is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all plant and facility equipment as well as the technical direction of the maintenance staff.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the daily operations of the maintenance department ensuring compliance, safety, cGMP guidelines and best practices for corrective and preventative maintenance procedures are followed including accurate completion of the preventative maintenance program.
  • Recruit, hire, train and supervise all maintenance associates and conduct regular performance appraisals. Provides coaching, guidance, direction, and motivation to Maintenance and Operations Associates to encourage ownership of results at the Associate and team level.
  • Coordinates, oversees and/or manages repair and maintenance work assignments performed by technicians, vendors, contractors, or third-party partners performing maintenance.
  • Provides on-call / on-site support for emergency situations.
  • Responsible for Maintenance department operational budget, KPIs, and production/facility support equipment efficiencies.
  • Manage End to End site maintenance needs. (Facility, Equipment, and grounds)
  • Communicates effectively and sets standards with facility and MRO support vendors
  • Build technical capability of Maintenance Department and Operating Department Associates
  • Manages critical components of CMMS, Planned Maintenance, Preventive Maintenance programs, parts and storeroom operations, Clean/Inspect/Lubricate programs, etc.
  • Creates a culture of an integrated approach to maintenance, based on teamwork and cooperation operating teams and Maintenance Associates
  • Communicates effectively and sets standards with support vendors
  • Oversee Maintenance by tracking work hours, maintaining work orders for all maintenance/project work, managing material purchases used in maintenance/project work and evaluate on how to reduce time and costs.
  • Responsible for adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) that are in effect, assuring the safety, quality and quantity of product produced.

Job Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in the management of Manufacturing or high-speed packaging equipment, including all elements of TPM
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred but not required  
  • Military candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • A background in the food, drug or nutritional industry is a strong plus
  • Detailed knowledge of mechanical and electrical machine repair, preventative maintenance, HVAC, and safe and efficient operation of plant utilities and all support equipment related to a packaging facility.
  • Strong knowledge facilities machines and equipment.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Experience with plumbing, electrical, Compressed air and whole-facility maintenance.
  • The ability to effectively provide coaching and direction to Maintenance leaders, Team Leaders, and Associates in maintenance and operations.
  • The ability to create and implement maintenance best practice systems
  • Available to work days and evenings, weekdays, and weekends
  • The ability to effectively communicate to and collaborate with senior management, outside consultants, suppliers and team members
  • Demonstrated ability to constructively participate in tactical and strategic technical planning discussions for capital programs and other major projects undertaken
  • Should be an assertive self-starter, who can also consistently display the interpersonal skills of both a strong leader and an effective team player
  • Sound judgment and high ethical standards, coupled with proven negotiating skills, which reflect a solid combination of business acumen, common sense, insight and an agile intellect
