Job Description

As the Director of Quality Operations, you will be responsible for the management of all QA and QC activities for 4 New York sites and associated storage areas used to manage materials for products produced at each site.  In this role you will provide leadership and guidance to the site Quality teams, ensuring that KPI's are maintained and issues are resolved in a compliant manner.  The position has one direct report at each associated site.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Has ownership of and deploys the quality management systems and test plans as defined by The Bountiful Co. corporate policies and procedures.  Maintains quality management system, associated documentation and all records required to manage the development, production and distribution of the products manufactured at these facilities.
  • Provides leadership to Quality Assurance and Quality Control department staff. Create harmonized procedures and processes to ensure compliance with current regulations and best practices.
  • Participates or leads network-wide Quality Systems improvement projects as designated by Senior Corporate Quality Management.
  • Acts as primary liaison to corporate Quality and outside Regulatory agencies (i.e. US FDA, State Department of Agriculture, and other agencies as required for the business).  Participates in the Corporate Quality Internal Audit program, leading or participating in annual audits of other The Bountiful Co. sites.
  • Tracks and trends quality issues at the sites and provides data to improve the performance of the quality management system.  Works with specific sites to develop action plans to resolve recurring events that impact compliance, service and productivity.
  • Serves as primary plant liaison for customer/consumer quality complaint issues. Approve complaint investigations performed by staff.
  • Provides guidance and assistance, data collection and interpretation for new product production trials.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science related discipline required.
  • Master's degree in Business or Science related discipline preferred.
  • 7+ years experience in Quality Management in an FDA-regulated industry, including Food, Drug or Nutritional fields.
  • 3-5 years experience on a HACCP leadership team implementing a Food Safety Plan a plus.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Manager, HACCP Certified Q, Lean / Six Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt certifications preferred.
  • Experience preparing and approving SOPs to support the Quality Management systems as defined by International standards, e.g. ISO 22000, ISO 17025, etc.
  • Knowledge of 21 CFR part 110, 21 CFR part 111 and other regulatory standards governing the sanitation and hygiene of food manufacturing.
  • Experience in quality audit program management and audit skills training, ASQ –CQA (certified quality auditor) or other.
  • Must exhibit exemplary high-performance leadership and motivational behaviors, principles and values, including the ability to work collaboratively within teams, the ability to maintain effectiveness during major changes in work tasks or the work environment, and the ability to continuously look for ways to do things faster and better, while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Travel required.
